Studies on the Effect of Ethrel on Colora­tion and Other Quality Characteristics of Cardinal Grape Cultivar

Abstract

Cardinal grapevines were sprayed with ethrel at 250, 500 and 1000 ppm when the surface of the berries was approximately 20 percent colored. Effects of ethrel on berry coloration and other quality characteristics were discussed.
Ethrel applications increased coloration of the berries. All ethrel concentrations significantly increased the amount of anthocyanin pigment in berry skin, but 500 and 1000 ppm had drastic effects. When compared to control vines, 500 and 1000 ppm ethrel concentrations increased the visually observed red berry ratio.
Ethrel applications significantly reduced berry firmness. Berry removal force decreased only at 1000 ppm ethrel concentration. Total soluble solids were increased by all ethrel concentrations but there was no significant difference at 250 ppm compared to control vines. Cluster and berry weight; berry length and width; acidity were not affected by ethrel applications.

Cardinal Üzüm Çeşidinde Ethrel'in Renklenme ve Diğer Kalite Özelliklerine Etkisi Üzerinde Araştırmalar

Abstract

Cardinal asmalarına yaklaşık % 20 ben düşme döneminde, 250, 500 ve 1000 ppm'lik ethrel püskürtülmüştur. Ethrel'in tanelerde renklenme ve diğer bazı kalite özelliklerine etkisi incelenmiştir.
Renklenme ethrel uygulamalarıyla arttırılmıştır. Tüm ethrel konsantrasyonları tane kabuğundaki antosiyanin miktarını önemli ölçüde arttırmıştır. Fakat 500 ve 1000 ppm daha belirgin bir etkiye sahiptir. Aynı zamanda, subjektif olarak gözlenen kırmızı tane oranı, 500 ve 1000 ppm'lik dozlarda kontrola göre önemli ölçüde artmıştır.
Ethrel uygulamaları tane eti sertliğini önemli ölçüde azaltmıştır. Tanenin ayrılma kuvveti sadece 1000 ppm'lik dozda azalmıştır. Tanelerdeki kurumadde miktarı tüm ethrel uygulamalarında artmıştır. Fakat 250 ppm'lik doz ile kontrol arasında önemli bir fark yoktur. Salkım ve tane ağırlığı, tane eni ve boyu, asitlik ethrel uygulamalarından etkilenmemiştir.
