The Role of Entrepreneur and Entrepreneurship Perceptions on Entrepreneurial Intent of Youngs

Abstract

This study was designed to investigate the relationships between perceptions towards entrepreneur and entrepreneurship phenomena and entrepreneurial intents of young entrepreneur candidates. The data was collected by means of a questionnaire formed utilizing the literature from 1520 young entrepreneur candidates studying at Aksaray University through random sampling and convenience sampling methods and the collected data were tested by factor analysis, descriptive statistics and correlation analysis. The results revealed entrepreneur perception consists of three sub-dimensions as perceptions of the entrepreneurial characteristics, perceptions of the positive role of entrepreneur in society and negative perceptions of entrepreneur and also entrepreneurship perception consists of two sub-dimensions as perceptions for the conceptual meaning of entrepreneurship and perceptions for individual and social benefits of entrepreneurship. The results of the analysis conducted based on this sub-dimensions determined a certain size positive relationships between all the other sub-dimension except for negative perceptions of entrepreneur and perceived behavioral control of the sub-dimension of intent. These findings is important to point out playing a role in the development of entrepreneurial intents of the perception towards entrepreneur and entrepreneurship.

Gençlerin Girişimcilik Eğilimlerinde Girişimci ve Girişimcilik Algılarının Rolü

Abstract

Bu araştırma, genç girişimci adayların girişimci ve girişimcilik olgularına yönelik algıları ile girişimcilik eğilimleri arasındaki ilişkileri incelemek amacıyla tasarlanmıştır. Alanyazından yararlanarak oluşturulmuş bir anket aracılığıyla Aksaray Üniversitesinde okuyan 1520 genç girişimci adaydan yansız ve kolayda örnekleme yöntemleriyle veri toplanmıştır. Toplanan veriler, faktör analizi, betimsel istatistikler ve korelasyon analizi ile test edilmiştir. Sonuçlar, girişimci algısının girişimcinin özelliklerine ilişkin algılar, girişimcinin toplumdaki olumlu rolüne ilişkin algılar ve girişimciye yönelik olumsuz algılar biçiminde üç alt boyuttan; girişimcilik algısının da girişimciliğin kavramsal anlamına yönelik algılar ve girişimciliğin bireysel ve toplumsal faydalarına yönelik algılar olarak iki alt boyuttan oluştuğunu ortaya koymuştur. Elde edilen alt boyutlara dayalı olarak yürütülen analizler sonucunda, girişimciye yönelik olumsuz algılarla eğilimin alt boyutlarından algılanan davranışsal kontrol dışında diğer tüm alt boyutlar arasında belli büyüklükte pozitif yönlü ilişkiler olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bu bulgular, girişimci ve girişimcilik algılarının girişimcilik eğilimlerinin gelişiminde rol oynadığına işaret etmesi açısından önemlidir.
