Mediation Role of Anxiety in the Effect of Employee Perceptions of Job Insecurity on Organizational Citizenship Behaviors

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the mediating role of anxiety in the effect of employees' perceptions of job insecurity on organizational citizenship behaviors. Also, the aim of the study is to determine whether employees' perceptions of job insecurity, organizational citizenship behaviors and anxiety levels differ according to demographic characteristics (status, gender, age groups, marital status, child status, educational status and seniority). 268 permanent and contracted employees employed in public and private sectors in Istanbul participated in the study. Research data were collected by questionnaire method. As a result of the study, it was seen that there is a partial mediator role of anxiety in the effect of employees' perceptions of job insecurity on organizational citizenship behaviors. In addition, employees' perceptions of job insecurity differ according to their status and age groups; organizational citizenship behaviors of employees also differ according to their status. Anxiety level of employees does not differ in terms of any demographic variables.
