DİANA NEMORENSİS KÜLTÜ-SERVİ AĞACI İLİŞKİSİ VE LYDİA SİKKELERİNDEKİ TASVİRİ

Abstract

20. yüzyılın başlarında, İskoç antropolog Sir James Frazer'ın üç kitap halinde yayımladığı ‘’The golden bough’’ serisi ile birlikte, Diana Nemorensis kültü antropoloji ve sosyoloji camiasında dikkat çekmiştir. Zamanla Robert Graves (The White Goddess) ve Carin Green (Roman Religion and The Cult of Diana at Arica) gibi birçok akademisyen ve tarihçi tarafından ele alınarak çalışma konusu olmuştur. Alföldi, 1960 yılında yaptığı çalışmayla Octavian ile başlayan ve MS 3. yüzyıla kadar kimi imparatorluk sikkelerinde darp edilen, Tanrıça tasvirli sikkeleri inceleyerek bir tipoloji oluşturmaya çalışmıştır. Bu çalışmada ise aynı dönemde Anadolu’daki Acrasus, Mastaura ve Mostene kent sikkelerinde görülen ve Tanrıça’nın bir atribütü olan servi ağacının Diana Nemorensis kültü ile ilişkisi ele alınacaktır. Bu bağlamda öncelikle Diana Nemorensis kültünün mitolojisi ve antik dönemdeki varlığı kısaca incelenecek ve daha sonra atribütleri açısından yansımaları, Anadolu sikkeleri kapsamında tartışılacaktır.
