Abstract

İş ve aile rollerine ilişkin tutumlar zaman içinde değişimler gösteren, dinamik faktörlerdir. Ne var ki bu tutumların hangi sosyal bağlamlarda, hangi bireysel değişkenlerle şekillendiği ve/veya göç gibi etkiler karşısında nasıl değiştiği konusunda kısıtlı sayıda çalışma mevcuttur. Çalışmanın amacı, Türkiye ve Almanya bağlamlarında zaman içinde kadınların iş ve aile rollerine ilişkin tutumlarının ve farklı tutumlara sahip kadınların ayırt edici özelliklerinin nasıl farklılaştığını ortaya koymaktır. Bu amaçla 2008 ve 2013 Türkiye Nüfus ve Sağlık Araştırmaları (TNSA) ile Nesiller ve Toplumsal Cinsiyet Araştırmalarının (Generations and Gender Surveys (GGS)) iki dalgası veri kaynağı olarak kullanılmıştır. Veriler, veri madenciliği yöntemlerinden karar ağaçlarıyla analiz edilmiştir. Elde edilen bulgulara göre Türkiye’de ve Almanya’da eşitlikçi tutuma sahip kadınların oranı artış göstermiştir. Almanya’da, yerli ve Türkiye doğumlu göçmen kadınlar karşılaştırıldığında, göçmenlerin eşitlikçi olmayan tutumlara daha yüksek oranda sahip olduğu görülmüştür. Eşitlikçi ve eşitlikçi olmayan tutumlara sahip kadınların profillerini açıklayan farklı öznitelikler elde edilmiştir.

AN INVESTIGATION OF WOMEN’S ATTITUDES TOWARDS WORK-FAMILY ROLES IN TURKEY AND GERMANY USING DECISION TREES

Abstract

Attitudes towards work and family roles are dynamic factors that change over time. However, there are few studies on which social contexts and individual variables shape these attitudes, and/or how attitudes change with the factors as migration. The aim of this study is to examine how women's attitudes towards work and family roles and the distinctive features of women with different attitudes vary over time within the contexts of Turkey and Germany. 2008 and 2013 Turkey Demographic and Health Surveys (TDHS) and two waves of Generations and Gender Surveys (GGS) were used as data sources. Data were analyzed with data mining methods, specifically, decision trees. Findings revealed that the proportions of women with egalitarian attitudes in Turkey and Germany have increased. In Germany, proportion of women with non-egalitarian attitudes was higher among Turkish immigrants compared to natives. Different attributes describing profiles of women with egalitarian and non-egalitarian attitudes were obtained.
