Objective: It has been reported that
total cholesterol, triglyceride and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C)
increase with menopause, while high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C) gradually decreases.
In this study, we aimed to investigate lipid levels in postmenopausal patients.
Material and Method: Forty-three postmenopausal
women and 43 healthy women were included in the control group and a similar
body-mass index and age group. Blood samples were taken after fasting for 12 hours.
Triglyceride, total cholesterol, and HDL-C plasma concentrations were measured by
cholesterol enzymatic tests, calculated by the LDL-C Friedewald formula.
Results: Triglyceride, total
cholesterol and LDL-C levels were found to be increased during the postmenopausal
period. HDL-C was found to be decreased in postmenopausal period. However,
total cholesterol, LDL-C and HDL-C were not statistically significant.
Triglyceride was statistically significantly higher in postmenopause group compared
to control. When multiple regressions were made, triglyceride elevation in age,
bmi, ggt den were independently detected in postmenopausal women.
Conclusion: Menopause and
triglyceride level sincreased significantly. Total cholesterol and LDL-C levels
did not significantly decrease in HDL-C levels.
Amaç: Menopozla birlikte total
kolesterol, trigliserit ve düşük yoğunluklu lipoprotein
kolesterol (LDL-K) artarken, yüksek yoğunluklu
lipoprotein (HDL-K)’in yavaş yavaş düştüğü bildirilmiştir.
dahil edildi. Kan örnekleri 12 saat açlıktan sonra alındı. Trigliserit, total
kolesterol, HDL-K plazma konsantrasyonları kolesterol enzimatik testlerle
ölçüldü, LDL-K Friedewald'ın formülü ile hesaplandı.
Bulgular: Trigliserit, total kolesterol ve LDL-K
düzeyleri postmenopozal dönemde artmış olarak bulundu. HDL-K postmenopozal
dönemde azalmış olarak bulundu. Ancaktotal kolesterol, LDL-K, HDL-K istatistiksel
olarak anlamlı değildi. Trigliserit postmenopoz grubunda kontrol ile
karşılaştırılınca istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir şekilde yüksek bulundu. Multipl
regresyon yapıldığında postmenopozal dönemde trigliserit yüksekliği yaş, VKİ,
ggt den bağımsız saptandı.
Sonuç: Menopoz ile trigliserit düzeyindeartış anlamlı
şekilde ilişkiliydi. Total Kolesterol, LDL-K değerlerinde anlamlı
yükselmeler HDL-K düzeyinde anlamlı düşmeler görülmedi.
