Sweet syndrome is a rare dermatosis characterized by painful erythematous plaques, fever, arthralgia, peripheral leukocytosis, edema in the upper dermis, and intense neutrophil infiltration. The syndrome can be seen together with upper respiratory tract infections, hematological malignancies, drug hypersensitivity, sarcoidosis, autoimmune diseases as well as idiopathic. In patients with ulcerative colitis and psoriasis using azathioprine, emerging skin lesions may be an exacerbation of the underlying autoimmune disease, and rarely may also be azathioprine-induced hypersensitivity syndrome. In such cases, it is important to take Sweet's syndrome into consideration and discontinue the drug in the early period and start appropriate treatment.
