Biyofilm ve Endodonti: Bölüm 1

Year 2012, Volume: 1 Issue: 2, 1 - 5, 01.10.2012

Abstract

Biofilm and Endodontics: Part 1

Year 2012, Volume: 1 Issue: 2, 1 - 5, 01.10.2012

Abstract

Biofilm structure that formed by microorganisms, when compared to planctonic cells, provides these organisms superior survival ability. Complex biofilm structure allows microorganism to communicate, survive in changing living conditions and resistance to antimicrobial agents. Biofilm layers that formed around root canals and surrounding tissues directly effect the success of endodontic treatments. This article reviews the formation of biofilm layers, communication of comprising microorganisms to each other, resistance mechanisms to antimicrobials and importance in endodontics
