The treatment of rigid and severe scoliosis by traction thoracoplasty-Harrington instrumentation and posterolateral fusion

Abstract

The treatment of children with severe scoliosis is so difficult and many complications can be seen. After halofemoral traction, we applicated thoracoplasty (for to restore rib-humb) and Harrington instrumentation and posterolateral fusion in ten patients with severe scoliotic deformity. Pseudoarthrosis developed in two patients and deep infection and dislocation of upper hook in one patient.
