Surgical treatment of meniscal lesions

Abstract

Between the years 1967-1987, in Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of Gulhane Military Medical Acedemy and Medical Faculty, surgical therapy has been performed on l328 cases with meniscal lesions. We have applied total menisectomy in 1228 cases (92.4%) and partial menisectomy in 48 cases (3.6%). In 12 cases (0.9%), peripheral meniscal tears were repaired with sutures. We couldn’t establish any pathology in 40 cases (3.1%) in which we had performed arthrotomy. We have postoperatively seen complications such as septic arthiritis in on case, skin defect on patella in one case, painful neuromas of the branches of the infrapatellar portion of she saphenous nerve in five cases and postoperative hemarthrosis in eight cases. Follow-up has been from 2 months to 2.5 years with an average of 5.3 months.

Menisküs lezyonlarının cerrahi tedavisi

Öz

1967-1987 yılları arasında, GATA Askeri Tıp Fakültesi Ortopedi ve Travmatoloji Anabilim Dalında, menisküs lezyonu olan 1328 olguya cerrahi tedavi uygulandı. Bu olguların 1228’inde (%92.4) total menisektomi, 48’inde (% 3.6) parsiyel menisektomi yapıldı. Preferik yırtığı olan 12 olguda (%0.9) ise lezyon sütürlerle tamir edildi. 40 olgumuz (% 3.1) diz açıldığında herhangi bir patoloji saptanmadı. Postoperatif dönemde, 1 olguda septik artrit, 1 olguda Volkman sendromu, 1 olguda patella üstü cilt defekti, 5 olguda saphenous sinirin infrapatellar dalında ağrılı nörinom, 8 olguda ise postoperatif hemartroz gibi komplikasyonlar görüldü. Ortalama takip süremiz 2 ay ile 2.5 yıl arasında değişmek üzere ortalama 5.3 ay idi.
