Ultrasonography of the shoulder

Abstract

Ultrasonographic evaluation of shoulder disorders is a new, sensitive and noninvasive diagnostic method. It helps the orthopaedist especially for diagnosing some important pathologies such as rotator cuff tears, defects of the humeral head and disorders of the biceps tendon. Furthermore, it is superior to other diagnostic techniques in that it provides the opportunity of dynamic evaluation. ln this report, we discussed on our cases the basic principles of shoulder sonography, the standard sections and the pathological findings.

Öz

Omuz patolojilerinin ultrasonografik incelemesi yeni, duyarlı ve noninvazif bir teşhis metodudur. Tanıda; özellikle rotator cuff yırtıkları, humerus başındaki defektler, biceps tendonundaki değişiklikler gibi önemli patolojilerde ortopediste yardımcı olmaktadır. Ayrıca dinamik inceleme olanağı sağlaması bakımından diğer yöntemlere üstünlük sağlamaktadır. Biz bu yazımızda vakaların ışığı altında omuz ultrasonografısinin temel teknikleri, standart kesitleri ve görülen patolojileri üzerine tartıştık.
