Conservative treatment of trigger finger

Abstract

This a review of 29 Trigger Finger in 25 cases treated by steroid injection and immobilisation from January 1985 to June 1988, at the department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of Gulhane Military Academy, Haydarpasa Military Hospital and from October 1987 to June 1988 at the Mustafakemalpasa State Hospital. Methylprednisolone-Lidocaine combination injected patients have been immobilised about three weeks. 18 digits (%62) had a succesful outcome. In 11 digits results were unsatisfactory. Satisfactory result rate in patients with a duration of symptoms less than three months, was 83 %. In this article, literature is reviewed and conservative treatment is advised prior to surgical intervention.
