Bone block iliotibial-band transfers in the treatment of anterior cruciate ligament deficency

Abstract

In order to accodmplish a hood treatment for anterior cruciate ligament failure the patient population must be adequately selected. In this paper we present the late results with a 5 year foolow-up our previously published intra-articular ilitibial bant transfers. Our finding were supported by arthroscopic examination. Accoringly; we found that this method should be used on patients leading a setentery life-style and are interested in sports only recreationally. Also ourhistologic examination showed that the vascurity of the ligament is continuous.
