Arthroscopic debridement and arthroplasty in arthritis of the knee joint

Abstract

Between 1987-1989, 69 patients with arthritis of the knee joint were treated surgically, either with arthroscopic debridement or knee replacement. The mean follow-up period was 10 (2-20) months. The Hospital for Special Surgery score gave a mean of 45 points before surgery and 82 points at follow up. There were two failures, one superficial wound infection, and one patellar malalignment necessitated lateral release.
