Importance of the synovial plica in the athletes knee

Abstract

There is no uniform comment about the disease of the plica-syndrom. Also there is no uniform comment about the treatment of these syndrom. Its only a fact, that a lot of patient have symptoms, like an plica syndrom, special sportsmen. In the centre of attention there is the plica synovialis mediopatellaris; it would be astonished at the fact, that the plica synovialis mediopatellaris can be symptomatic by an acute rotation injury of the knee joint. In few cases the plica alaris lateralis, the Iigamentum mucosum and the plica suprapatellaris can also be symptomatic. We found chronic complaints by the pIica in sports, special in sports with endurance activity; in these kinds of sport the movements are especially always repeated. With the exception of theplicae who will be injured by an acute trauma all the other plicasyndroms will be treated cnoservative about several months.The problems of the plicasyndrom will be shown by an collective from 4000 sportsmen/women, who had complatins vith their knee joints ; we talk about the problems, diagnosis and the kind of treatment.

Öz

''Plika sendromu'' olarak adlandırılan hastalığın tanımlanması üzerine birlik yoktur. Aynı zamanda bu sendroma yaklaşım konusunda da birleşilmemiştir. Açık olan birşey varsa, sporcuların çoğunlukta olduğu birçok hasta plika-sendromu şeklinde tanımlanacak bir şikayetler grubu ile giderek daha fazla hekimlere başvurduğudur. Meselenin odak noktasında plika synovialis mediopatellaris bulunmaktadır. Bu şaşırtan bir biçimde dizin rotasyon travmalarında akut bir semptom oluşturmaktadır. Daha az vakada plika alaris lateralis, ligamentum mukozum ve plika suprapatelIaris'de dizde şikayetler oluşturabilmektedir. Kronik şikayetler tarzında olmakta, genellikle aynı hareketleri düzenli ve uzun bir süre yapan dayanıklılık sporları uygulayanlarda görülmektedir. Akut yaralanan plikalar hariç tutulursa, vakaların büyük çoğunluğunda aylar süren konservatif tedavi uygulanmaktadır. 4000 sporcudan oluşan bir grupta diz şikayetleri -plika sendromu- yönünden değerlendirildi. Tanıya esas olacak noktalar ve tedavi yaklaşımlarında bulunuldu. Bu grupta plikasendromu %10 gibi abartılmasına gerek olmayan fakat küçümsenmeyecek bir oranda bulundu.
