The management of lomber discopathy associated with radiculopathy with epidural steroid injections
Abstract
To 30 patients with lomber discopathy, associated with radiculopathy. 80 mg of methyl prednisolone acetate epidural injections were applied in periods of 15 days.
Pain severity, using the visual analogue scale, straightleg raising test. Lomber schober, palpation findings, functional condition, results of treatment according to the patient and the physician were the parameters assessed before and after treatment and the resultswere compared. The results of improvement after treatment for pain severity, straight-leg raising Test. lomber schober parameters when compared before treatment were meaningful. (P 0,01. P 0.01,).
There was no meaningful difference in the findings of palpation. There was (%60) improvement in the functİonal condition.
The number ofpatients who showed improvement according to phyician were 20 (%67) according to the patient 17 (%57). It should be emphasized that in discopathy associated with radiculopathy treatment, epidural injection is not a basic treatment modality. Exercises of patient education is also important for the improvement of the patient.
