Closed Ender nailing for femoral shaft associated with pertrochanteric fractures
Abstract
From 1985 to 1989, five ipsilateral concomitant fractures of the pertrochanteric region and femoral shaft were treated with Ender pins in Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology Clinic in Ege University. These fractures of femur are caused by a severe force and are encountered mostly in young patients. All fractures were caused by traffic accidents.
Bone union and functional recovery without any complication were obtained. The Ender technique proved to be an effective treatment of the combined trochanteric and shaft fractures of the femur.
