The treatment of intertrochanteric fractures using Jewett nail-plate and Richards screw-plate
Abstract
The comparison of the results of Jewett nail-plate and Richards screw-plate in the treatment of intertrochanteric fractures of femur. The results of 52 patients out of 201 patiens who were operated for intertrochanteric fracture of femur from January 1983 to December 1987 in Ankara Numune Hospital, Clinic of Orthopedics and Traumatolog, were evaluated in this study. The evaluation was made according to the anatomical and functional classification, and results of 28 patients treated with Jewett nail-plate were compared to those of 24 patients treated with Richards screw-plate statistical analyses revealed no significant differences between two groups, while Richards screw-plating rendered fewer complications.
