A general approach to the knee prosthesis used today

Abstract

Total knee arthroplasty has revolutionised the treatment of gonarthrosis. A great achievement has been observed in the last decade with the introduction of basic principles "Geometric Designs", "minimal resection", "maximum flexion" and "physiologic rotation". There are over 200 different prosthetic designs seen in the international platform: this is the evidence of ongoing research on the subject.
