Procedures applied in the treatment of chronic anterior knee instabilities and our results

Abstract

Between 1980 and 1990, 135 patients with anterior cruciate insufficiency were treated by Ellison, Modified Marshall techniques and Dacron synthetic prosthesis in Orthopeadics Department of Gülhane Military Medical Academy.Modified Marshall technique is used in the treatment of anteromedial instabilities in addition to the technique of anterior transfer of m. sar1orius, retracting the vastus medialis anteriorly and distal'y, and pes anserinoplasty are applied. The success rate of this group was 83%. After 2, 5 year follow-up, the success rate was 85% in dacron prosthesis.
