Peripheral soft tissue changes in leg lengthened osteotomy

Abstract

Femur of 18 rats were Iengthened as 5, 1 0, 15 percent of original femur Iength to explain vascular, neural and muscular complications seen in Ienghtened osteotomy. Changes occured in peripheral soft tissues were investigated histopathologically. It was concluded that Ienghtened osteotomy may be done up to 15 percent of original bone Iength without any histopathological change, if patients are examined well, an appropriate technique chosen, Patient is followed up well.
