Tru-cut biopsy in the tumors of the musculoskeletal system

Abstract

Tru-cut biopsy in the tumors of the musculoskeletal system is the subject of this study. Method was performed in 100 patients who were admitted to the Orthopaedic Department of Ege University Faculty of Medicine. On the basis of major groups such as primary benign, primary malignant, metastatic tumors and tumor Iike conditions, the accuracy of the diagnosis was 97%. Spesific diagnosis was made in 94% of the patients. In our opinion, the main reasons of our success are: All of our patients are evaluated at the weekly council with the presence of the departments of radiology, pathology, nuclear medicine, oncology, radiation oncology; the biopsy is performed by the surgeon who will carry on the treatment; and the specimen is analysed by the pathologists who are mainly concerned with the tumors of the musculoskeletal system.

İskelet sistemi tümörlerinde tru-cut iğne biyopsisi

Öz

Çalışmada Ege Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Ortopedi ve Travmatoloji Anabilim Dalı'nda uygulanan 100 . adet tru-cut iğne biyopsi sonuçları verilmiştir. Başarı oranımız ana guruplara ayırmada %97, spesifik tanıya ulaşmada %94 tür. Olgularımızın tümünün patoloji, nükleer tlp, onkoloji, radyasyon onkolojisi, radyoloji gibi bölümlerin katıldığı haftalık toplantılarda tartışılmasının, biyopsinin operasyonu yapacak kişilerce yapılmasının ve preparatların iskelet sistemi tümörleri ile yakından ilgili patologlar tarafından değerlendirilmesinin başarımızın en büyük nedenleri olduğu kanısındayız.
