Dimon-Hughston technic of unstable trochanteric fractures; treatment and results

Abstract

The results of internal fixation and open reduction by Dimon-Hughston technic in 30 unstable trochanteric fractures, treated between 1986-1990 years at Orthopaedic and Traumatology Department of Uludag University Medical School were reported in this study. The fixation was made with 130° AO/ASIF plate under spinal or general anesthesia. To Kyle and Gustilo's criteria; we obtained 21 very good, 6 good, 2 moderate and 1 poor results in whom a deep infection was developed. ln our opinion, Dimon-Hughston metod, is a practical technic from the point of our country's condition, as it doesn 't need sophisticated tools and easy, safe method for unstable trochanteric fractures.
