The effects of free periosteal graft on fracture healing in rabbits

Abstract

Femur of rabbits was fractured; periosteum, endosteum and medulla destroyed. Then the free periosteal graft was transplanted from tibia. Thus by signifying the effect of transplanted free periost graft, its role on healing was investigated. It was found that the fracture healing was advanced in the experimental group than in the control one. This indicates that transplanted free periost graft continues its activity even in a case of removing important factors in fracture healing.
