Harrington Rod+Sleeve method for pathological compression fractures caused by vertebral metastasis

Abstract

Metastatic Iesions involving the spine may cause vertebral body collapse, resulting in either spinal instabiIity or neural compression or both. Pathological fracture and instability involving the Iower thoracic and Iumber Ievels may be adequately reduced and stabilized by decompressive Iaminectomy with Harrington rod+sleeve application. We recently had an opportunity to treat such a patient- Details of this case are described and the pertinent Iiterature is reviewed.

Abstract

Vertabrayı tutan metastatik lezyonlar spinal instabilite veya nöral bası ya da her ikisi ile sonuçlanan patoIojik kompresyon kırıklarına sebep olabilirler. Bu kompresyon ve instabilite, alt dorsal ve Iomber düzeylerdeyse dekompressif Iaminektomi ile birlikte Harrington rod+sleeve yöntemi uygulanarak tatmin edici şekilde düzeltilerek stabilizasyon sağlanabilir. Bu yazımızda kliniğimizde tedavi ettiğimiz böyle bir hasta bildirilmiş ve ilgiIi Iiteratür tartışılmıştır.
