Femoral fracture healing and treatment in patients with head injuries

Abstract

Callus formation and rate of union of the outcome of various types of treatment for femoral fracture has been determined in 23 fracture of 23 patients with associated head injuries and compared with that in a group of patients with similarly treated femoral fractures but without head injuries. Those with head injuries had excessive callus and united more rapidly than normal, and significantly increased callus and accelerated fracture union time in these patients were directly correlated. Open reduction and internal fixation proved attractive solution for femoral fractures in children with head injury.
