Determination of the femoral torsion (experimental study of dried femora, comparison of six methods)

Abstract

Femoral torsion was tedermined by sonography and different methods on dried femur, appliable for various femoral torsion degrees by osteotomized from subtrochanteric level, at the Department of Radiodiagnostic of the Faculty of Medicine, Atatürk University İn Erzurum.
The results obtained from direct observation, axial radiography, ultrasonography and computerised tomoraphy were found closely. However, the results of Reynolds method, one of the biplanar methods, was different from the first one, and partiy reliable. As for the other one, Magilligan method was too different and non-reliable.

Abstract

Atatürk Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Radyodiagnostik Anabilim Dalı’nda Ekim 1991’de subtrokanterik femurdan osteotomize edilerek değişik femoral torsiyon dereceleri elde edilebilen bir ölü femuru üzerinde femoral torsiyon 6 farklı yöntemle ölçülmüştür.
Direk gözlem, aksiyel grafi, ultrasonografi ve kompüterize tomografi sonuçları birbirine çok yakın bulunurken biplanar yöntemlerden Reynolds yöntemi ve yöntemlerden farklı ve kısmen güvenilir. Magilligan yöntemi ise çok farklı ve güvenilir olmadığı bulunmuştur.
