Our total knee arthroplasty applications

Abstract

37 knees of 35 patients have undergone procedure of total knee arthroplasty at the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, GATA between May 1990 and 1992. While kinematic total condylar knee prosthesis was used in 10 cases, 27 had total condylar knee prothesis. Of the patients, 28 (75.6%) had gonarthrosis, 6 (16..2%) had post-traumatic osteoarthritis and 3 (8.1%) had rheumatoid arthritis as the underlying primary pathology. 26 (70.2%) of the patients where female and 11 (29.7%) male and average follow-up was 13 monts (1-24). As postoperative complications, we had only one case which developed skin necrosis. Postoperatively all patiets had improved functions.
