Limitation of surgical and functional rehabilitation in treatment of medial collateral ligament injury

Abstract

Treatment modalities of the injuried MCL in a traumatized knee has shown considerable changes in time. In this work we will discuss the treatment results of 87 cases. Our treatment results and those published in the contemporary publications has cited the advantages of conservative treatment in Grade I and II lesions. But combined lesions of the ACL and MCL should be evaluated with emphasis on the ACL. Thus it is important to give treatment according to the patients expectations in Grade III lesions our results have shown minimal residual valgus laxity independent of the treatment employed.
