A comparison between arthroscopic meniscectomy and open meniscectomy

Abstract

In this study; 128 patients who had undergone either arthroscopic or open meniscectomy were evaluated accordıng to their subjective data in order to compare the functional results of the arthroscopic meniscectomy with the open meniscectomy. At last follow up, excellent and good results were found to be 73.8 per cent in the arthroscopic partial meniscectomy group. 69.6 per cent in the open partial meniscectomy group and 73.6 per cent in the open total meniscectomy group. The mean time to return to daily activities were seen to be11.6 days for the arthroscopic meniscectomy group 33.3 days for the open partial meniscectomy group and 41.8 days for the open total meniscectomy group.

Artroskopik menisektomi ve açık menisektomilerin karşılaştırılması

Öz

Bu çalışmada; artroskopik menisektomi ile artrotomi ile yapılan menisektominin fonksiyonel sonuçlarını karşılaştırmak amacı ile; artroskopik ya da açık menisektomi yapılan toplam 128 hasta subjektif şikayetlerine göre değerlendirildi. Son incelemede çok iyi ve iyi sonuç; artroskopik parsiyel menisektomi grubunda %73.8, artrotomi parsiyel menisektomi grubunda %69.6 ve artrotomi total menisektomi grubunda ise %73.6 oranlarında bulundu. Olguların normal günlük aktivitelerine dönüş süreleri ortalama; artroskopik parsiyel menisektomi grubunda 11.6 gün, artrotomi parsiyel menisektomi grubunda 33.3 gün ve artrotomi total menisektomi grubunda 41.8 gündü.
