The role of MRl in determining the ethlopathogenesis of chronical knee pain

Abstract

In this study, 47 cases with longstanding knee pain, admitted to Bakırköy Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Center and Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Department in Faculty of Medicine at Trakya University were evaluated. Clinical and radiologic findings of a total of 47 gonarthrosis patients with 51 painful knees which proved to be unresponsive to medication and physical therapy modalities were examined. MRI was performed in order to minimize diagnostical and therapeutical errors and the results were compared. MRI examination revealed 193 pathologica: images all of which were degenerative origin. These findings were evaluated as more than one factor influenced the clinical outcome of these patients and also concluded that the degeneration of meniscal bodies play a very important role especially in the clinical outcome.
