Congenital scoliosis; associated anomalies

Abstract

In this study; we analysed the results of 50 patients who were operated for congenital scoliosis, between January 1984 and April1989 in A.Ü.T.F İbn-i Sina Hospital Orthopaedics and Traumatology Department retrospectively. The follow-up period ranged from 16 to 68 months (mean 36) and hemivertebra was the most common spinal anomaly (46%). Other spinal anomalies were unsegmented bar, block vertebra, wedge vertebra, and complex anomalies. In the follow-up examinations; the curves were measured and fusion masses were controlled radiographically. When we evaluated the accompanying anomalies; we observed that costa anomalles were the most frequent with 17 cases. Technically we performed posterior fusion operations and the curves were measured before the operations and in the final follow-ups. The results of these procedures are discussed.
