Primary hemiarthroplasty with Leinbach prosthesis in the treatment of unstable intertrochanteric and subtrochanteric hip fractures

Abstract

Between 1986-1992, in the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of GATA Haydarpaşa Training Hospital, 24 elderly osteoporotic patients with unstable intertrochanteric and subtrochanteric hip fractures were treated by primary hemiartroplasty with Leinbach prosthesis. Mean follow-up period is 14.2 months (3 months-45 months). We have obtained excellent, very good and good results in 66.7-100% of the patients and poor results in 0-33.3 % of the patients.
