Our first three years in the diagnostic and surgical knee arthroscopy

Abstract

In department of Orthopaedics Surgery and Traumatology of Istanbul Hospital 317 diagnostic and surgical artroscopic procedures have been carried out between the years of 1990-1993. These cases have been evaluaded in the respect of arthroscopic techiques and complications and artroscopic diagnosis of them. There were 250 males and 67 females with a mean age of 25.1 (15-70) years. The mean time of procedure was 30 minutes (range 20-65 minutes). 98 knees were examined under tourniquet. Eleven comlications were encountered which were; intraarticular hemorrhage in 3, fluid outflow through intermuscular space in 3 and tool breakage in 2. post operative effusion in 2. post operative effusion in 2 cases. Arthroscopic findings clinical examination were compared with C.T. findings of another group of patients separately and founc to have accuracy of %75.7 and %85.
