The role of MRI in the diagnosis of degenerative knee disease and the effect of laser in the treatment

Abstract

20 patients admitted to the Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation of Trakya University Faculty of Medicine between May 1992 and May 1993 with diagnoses of degenerative knee disase were included in this study. After evaluation by physical examination clinical sings direct roentgenogramms end MRI, patients were given laser therapy for 20 sessions and evaluated statisticaly At the and it was concluded that Laser, by its bostimulation effect is a very convenient physical thprapy agent in relieving pain, effusion spasm as well as in increasing ROM in degenerative knee disease and it was also empnasized that MRI is an easily applicable teche with the advantage of exact imaging of all the internal structures of the knee joint which makes it a preferable diagnostic aid.
