Results obtained by the closed kinetic chain rehabilitation protocols following arthroscopic surgery

Abstract

In thıs study an attempt was made to assess the efficacy of closed knetic chain (CKC) rehabilitation protocols in patients who underwent arthroscopic surgery, 15 patients ( 14 men, 1 famele) with ACL disorder and 32 patients (24 male. 8 female) with menisectomy were studied. In ACL group, a fast rehabilitation protocol consisting of several CKC activities were applied in 6-month period while another rehabilitation protocol were applied in 12-week period in patients with menisectomy. Apart from clinical tests and evalautions, isokinetic testings were made in both groups with 2-month intervals. Results obtained by this evaluations show that recent rehabilitation protocols based on CKC activities are significantly effective in both groups. In conclusion we suggest that following arthroscopic surgery methods, these recent protocols can easily be applied and are of value in shortening the recovery period. This also help resume normal sports activities in active sports participants.
