A new method in the reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament
Abstract
In this study, anterior cruciate ligament has been reconstructed by using the Semitendinosus and Gracilis tendons. Human cadaver knee joints were used. Technically, static and dynamic stability have been planned. In addition, the two bundles of the anterior cruciate ligament have been reconstructed (anteromedial and intermediate). Semitendinosus and Gracilis tendons were seperated on the tibial side and then two tunnels have been opened in the tibia, in direction from the posterior to the anterior and from the bottom to the top. Thus, on the tibia, tunnels were created between the posterior aspect of the tibia and the side of the tibial insertion of ACL Seperately, a tunnel was made in the lateral condyl of the femur. The tendons were passed through the tunnels and sutured to the lateral side of the femoral condyl. Therefore, two bundles of the anterior cruciate ligament have been reconstructed. At the same time, dynamic stability was given to the anterior cruciate ligament by using the tendons as pure flexor muscle.
