A comparative study about the various aspects of narrow stainless steel bone plates made in Turkey and Europe

Abstract

Narrow stainless steel bone plates manifactured in Turkey and those in Europe have been studied comparatively from the points-of-view of corrosion, tissue reaction (aseptic inflammation), strength and durability. Both types of stainless steel bone plates were subjected to distraction and bending tests, using digital universal distraction and hydraulic compression apparatuses. The bone plates displayed no difference in resistance and durability in both tests. Investigations on biological fitness and corrosion were made on 3-6 month old dogs. Fallowing pathological examinations, it was observed that identical tissue changes occured due to both plates
