The development of joint-cartlage in acetabular part formed with periosteal autografts with Chiari's pelvic osteotomy

Abstract

In our study, we examined the development of joint-cartifage (in the upper fragment of the acetabufum) macroscopically and histologically by using of the choridrogenic potientiaf of the free periosteal grafts that we had transtered from the frontaf part of the same rabbit's body to the superior acetabufar dome formed with Chiari s pelvic osteotomy. We carried out this procedure on 20 rabbits. We performed Chiari s pelvic osteotomy and transplanted periosteal graft from the frontal part of 10 rabbits, and just performed Chiari s pelvic osteotomy on 10 of the rabbits as a controf group. The hip of the rabbits, that were under control for 12 weeks, were operated and the upper acetabulum was examined histologically and macroscopically. At the end of our study, we found the development of hyalin cartifage in the main group that we had performed Chiari s pelvic osteotomy and transferred-periosteal graft and couldn't find out on the control group.
