The effects of free synovial graft on the healing of meniscal tears in avascular zone (Experimental study in rabbits)

Abstract

Longitudinal tears have been made in avascular area in the right medial meniscus of 16 rabbits. Free synovialgrafts have been place in the gap and sutured with prolene 5/0. Left knees accepted as control group. We observed the healing with fibrovascular scar tissue in the torn meniscus at the end of sixth weeks period while the tear continued in control group.
