The diagnostic role of double contrast arthrotomography for recurrent dislocation of shoulder

Abstract

Diagnostic double contrast arthrotomography was performed on 19 patients who had recurrent dislocation of shoulder to decide the treatment plan in Trakya University Hospital between 1991-1995. Omnipaque and room air were used as contrast material. No complication has been observed. The role of pathology the labrum and capsule in the recurrent dislocation of shoulder were investigated. The results were compared with arthrotomy and arthroscopy. Treatment was planned in the light of the history, physical examination, double contrast arthrotomography and other diagnostic methods treatment was planned. This study demonstrated that double contrast arthrotomography had significant role for planning the treatment of recurrent dislocation of shoulder with other diagnostic methods as well.
