Abstract
The comparison of stabilization techniques of unstable thoracolombar vertebra fractures which is not stabilized because of different reasons. In between 1989-1993, 24 patients with unstable thoracolumbar vertebra fractures, that had not been stabilized before they were operated in Ankara Numune Hospital 1st Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic and AlYcY Spinal instrumentation were performed for vertebral stabilization. The follow up is 24 months. 18 of 24 patients had undergone laminectomy procedure in another medical center, but any internal stabilization was not performed. The patients were divided into three groups (hook-rod, TPS-rod, hook-TPS-rod) according to the surgical stabilization method and evaluated radiographically. As a result, stabilization is essential in patients suffered from vertebral fractures even in late cases. Although it is difficult to obtain anatomical reduction, the best correction can be achieved by hook-rod system.
