The effects of the sheath repair and fibrin glue in prevention of adhesions on flexor tendon repair

Abstract

The effects of sheath repair and fibrin glue on adhesions after primary tendon repair were evaluated in the chicken model. 6 weeks later, gliding excursions of the repaired tendons were measured and histological examinations were carried out. There is no difference between the sheath repair and fibrin groups functionally. However, in the histological examinations, the results were better in the fibrin groups. In conclusion, we think that, the fibrin glue is useful than the sheath repair in prevention of adhesions.
