Our results of the shoulder prosthesis

Abstract

Ten patients were treated by partial shoulder prosthesis and two patient were treated by total shoulder prosthesis between March 1993 and Nowember 1996 at our Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. All of the partial shoulder prosthesis were applied for three or four-part fractures of the proximal humerus. Also total shoulder prosthesis were applied on two patients because of old anatomical neck fractures at the first patient and old unreduced shoulder dilocations at the second. Four of them were female and others were male. The mean age was 41 years old. The average follow-up period was 19 months. Cofield shoulder scores were used for evaluation of the patients. Four patient were classified as excellent, six patient good, and two patients poor. In this study, we concluded that arthroplasty of shoulder may be an useful method for three or four part fractures of the proxumal humerus, old anatomical nek fractures and old unreduced dislocation of the sholder.

Omuz protezi uygulamalarımız

Öz

Kliniğimizde Mart 1993 ve Kasım 1996 yıllan aras1l1da on hastaya parsiyel omuz protezi, iki hastaya da total omuz protezi uygulandı. Parsiyel omuz protezi uygulanan olgulann tümünde neden üç ya da dört parçalı proksimal humerus kmğı idi. Total omuz protezi uygulanan olgulanmn ilkinde neden eski anatomik boyun kmğı, ikincisinde ise eski redikte edilmemiş omuz Çlkığı idi. Hastalann dört'ü kad1l1 sekiz'i erkek, yaş ortalaması 41 idi. Hastalar ortalama 19 ay takip edildiler. Değerlendirme CoJield omuz skorlama sistemine göre yapi/dı. Dört hastada çok iyi (%33.2) alo hastada yeterli (iyi) (%49.8), iki hastada kötü (%16.6) sonuç elde edildi. Gerek literatür bilgisi gerekse de bu çalişma sonunda, 3 veya 4 parça/i humerus başı kmklannda, eski anatomik boyun kmklannda ve redükte edilmemiş eski omuz Çlkıklannda omuz artroplastisinin iyi bir tedavi seçeneği olabileceği düşünüldü.
