Child abuse (A case report)

Abstract

Throughout the histories of various societies, children have been physically, sexually and emotionally abused by their close relatives. Especially in the last two decades, great attention of the world, especially in the medical community has been focused on child abuse: One of the most dramatic manifestations of family violence. Many articles, researches and reports have been published in the western medical societies on the child abuse, however, there are no detailed studies in Turkish orthopaedic literature. This is caused by both the unrecognition of this syndrome by physicians and the denials of the abusive parents. In our study, we give our report on the physicial abuse by his elder brother on the younger child of a diverced woman. Multiple fractures occured. In this report, we aim to direct the attention of orthopaedic surgeons to child abuse, which is still a big unrecognized problem in our country.

Hırpalanmış çocuk sendromu (Olgu sunumu)

Öz

Yakın akrabaları tarafından fiziksel ve seksüel tacize uğrayan bebek ve küçük çocukların sorunu, günümüzde hanlı ülkelerde bile çok büyük bir sosyal sorun olarak gündemi işgal etmeye ve önemini korumaya devam etmektedir. Hırpalanmış çocuk sendromu ile ilgili bilimsel yayınlar yabancı literatürde sıkça yer alırken. Türkçe ortopedik literatürde bu konu ile ilgili detaylı çalışmalar mevcut değildir. Bunun nedeni hem tacize uğrayan çocukların saklı kalması hem de sağlık personelindeki bilgi eksikliğinden kaynaklanan tanı yetersizlikleri ve detaylı sosyal sorgulamanın yapılamamışıdır. Bu çalısmamızda eşinden ayrılmış bir annenin iki çocugundan küçüğünün, ağabeyi tarafından fiziksel tacize uğratılması, oluşan multipl kırıkların tanı ve tedavisi, ülkemizde de çok büyük bir gizli sosyal sorun olan hırpalanmış çocuk sendromuna dikkati çekebilmek amacıyla takdim edilmiştir.
