Symptomatic fenestrated medial plica: a report of two cases

Abstract

Symptomatic medial plica is one of the causes of anterior knee pain syndromes and fenestrated medial plica is one rare form thereof. In this report we present two male patients, aged 17 and 31 years, respectively, in whom fenestrated medial plica was documented and excised during arthroscopic evaluation for anterior knee pain resistant to conservative treatment. Complaints of the patients resolved within two weeks postoperatively; no complications were encountered at subsequent follow-up examinations.
