The early complications of femoral neck fractures treated by endoprosthesis replacement

Abstract

Cerrahpaşa School of Medicine Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic were reviewed in this study. The Average age was 66,2. 173 fractures occured in women and 105 in men. The modified Gibson approach to the hip was used at 220 cases and Osbomecapproach at 58. Out oftbe whole group of 278 hips treated the important earty complications were wound infections in 32 hips (11,5 %) all of which resolved, andthislocation in 3 hips (l %). 19 patients (6,8 %) died during the first 4 wecks after operation, their average age being 77. 205 patients (73,7 %) were discharged frcm hospital within the first 4 weeks of the operation.
