Lengthenıng of the leg by perıosteal reflectıon

Abstract

Attempts have been made to investigate on the method of periosteal reflection on the tibial bone with the intention of inequality in the leg length. The procedure is based on the complete blood supply of the bone via the epiphyseal veins and on the stimulation of epiphysis. For this purpose, a surgery of periosteal reflection was performed on 7 rabbit-tibiae, and contralateral legs of the rabbits were evaluated as controls. Three months later the rabbits were sacrificed to investigate whether there was a anny difference in the length of the tibia. Measurement was made through the X-rays of the tibiae, histological sections of the epiphyses and denuded bone. Although at the teimination of the investigation a slight lengthening was noted in the tibial with reflected periosteum compared to the tibial on the contralateral side, this difference was not considered to be clinically significant.

Bacağın periost sıyırma yöntemi ile uzatılması

Abstract

Bacak uzunluğu eşitsizliğini ortadan kaldırmak amacı ile tibia kemiğinde periost sıyırma yöntemi araştırılmıştır. Yöntem; kemiğin beslenmesinin tümünün epifizer damarlardan sağlanmasına ve epifizin stimulasyonuna dayanmaktadır. Bu amaçla 7 tavşan tibiasına periost sıyırma ameliyatı uygulanmıştır. Tavşanların karşı bacakları ise kontrol grubu olarak değerlenmiştir. Üç ay sonra tavşanlar öldürülerek, tibiaların uzunluklarında bir fark olup olmadığı araştırılmıştır. Ölçüm, tibiaların röntgenlerinden, epifizlerin histolojik kesitlerinden ve çıplak kemiklerden yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda periostu sıyrılan tibiaların öteki tarafa göre uzama görülmekle birlikte bu miktar klinik olarak çok anlamlı bulunmamıştır.
