Diastematomyelia

Abstract

From 1963 to 1982, 7 patients with diastematomyelia were treated. This anomaly is very rare and caractherized by a duplication of the spinal cord with a band or a spur which is attached to the corpus of the vertebra. Skin lesious in the regioh of the malformation, congenital anomalies of the vertebral column and progressif neurologic signs in lower limbs are seen in the cilinical picture. For these entity the myelography is the most important diagnostic technique. Because of the difference between the growth rates of the bony vertebral conal and the spinal cord, in the neurologic signs appear and become more serious. So, the surgical intervention which is the only form of treatment, most be done as soon os the diagnosis is made. The obstacle which pulls down the spinal cord should be resected.

DİASTEMATOMYELİ

Abstract

İstanbul Tıp Fakültesi Nöroşirürji Kliniğinde 1963-1982 yılları arasında 7 diastemayomyeli vakası teşhis ve tedavi edildi. Oldukça nadir görülen bu vertebro-medüiler şekil bozukluğu omur cismine tespit edilmiş bulunan bir bant veya mahmuzla omuriliğin yarıklanması şeklinde tarif edilebilir. Klinik olarak şekil bozukluğunun olduğu bölgede cild bulguları, doğumsol vertebra anomalileri ve alt ekstremitelere ait progressif nörolojik belirtiler gözlenir. Literatürde küçük seriler halinde yayınlanan bu hastalıkta vazgeçilmez tanı koydurucu inceleme yöntemi myelografidir. Kemik omurga kanalı ile omurilik arasındaki büyüme hızı farklılığı nedeniyle nörolojik belirtilerin zamanla giderek ortaya çıkması ve ağırlaşması tek tedavi şekli olan cerrahi müdahalenin teşhis koyulduğu anda vakit geçirilmeden yapılmasını ve omuriliği aşan engelin ortadan kaldırılması gerekli kılmaktadır.
