Role of the Foot Toe Flexors Upon the Recurrence in Congenital Club-Foot Deformity (An Electromyographyc Study)
Abstract
The role of the anterior tibial, posterior tibial and peroneal muscules upon the recurrence of the club-foot is well known. We have tried to reveal by EMG studies, that the flexor muscules of the toes of the foot especially, long flexor of the-big toe which were not developed sufficientiy may be responsible tor varus recurrence. This study, have been performed on, in Gülhane Military Medical Academy between the years of 1971-1973. Of the 41 feet 12 were normal, 16 were congenital club;foot and 13 treated club-foot, operated on, by ours own modifications. Subseauentiy, we are advised that the two muscules should be lenghtened by Z plast in the surgical procedures of the congenital club-foot.
